Peter BassanoPeter Bassano, Music Director of the Oxford University Sinfonietta and a member of the John Wallace Brass Quintet, will be running two Brass in Benslow courses in 2012, exploring brass quintets from Arnold to Zappa, as well as repertoire for larger forces.

The first Brass in Benslow course will explore brass quintets from Arnold to Zappa, as well as repertoire for larger forces. For this course he is joined by Simon Lenton, of the Fine Arts Brass Ensemble. Dates for this course are Friday 10 - Sunday 12 February. Residential fees are £225, non-residential £175.

The second course is on Monday 25 - Thursday 28 June 2011 and has a dual purpose. First, it is designed to enable participants to hone their solo brass pieces, working in a class situation with trombonist Peter Bassano and pianist Alison Procter, who has a special affinity with and knowledge of the repertoire. There will also be a large brass ensemble looking at brass ensemble repertoire, as well as the orchestral works of Mahler, Strauss and others. Residential fees are £265, non-residential £205.

The venue for both courses is Benslow Music, Benslow Lane, Hitchin, Hertfordshire. SG4 9RB, telephone 01462 459446, e-mail  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
