The British Trombone Society invites participants for the inaugural Ian Bousfield competition, which gives young tenor trombone players the opportunity to display their musical and technical abilities to one of the best brass players on the planet.
The competition has two rounds: a preliminary round, whereby entrants must submit an mp3 of their chosen programme, and a final round which will take place at the Royal Academy of Music, London, NW1 5HT, on Sunday, 7th June, 2015.
Three finalists will be chosen from the preliminary round to take part in the live final, to be judged by Ian Bousfield in conjunction with a panel selected by the BTS Committee.
The overall winner will receive a brand new Getzen tenor trombone, Ian Bousfield model 4171, and the BTS Ian Bousfield competition trophy, to be retained until the next competition.
Two runners up will receive an Ian Bousfield mouthpiece.
Prize winners may be invited to perform at future BTS events.
