2012 BTS National Trombone Festival

The 2012 British Trombone Society National Trombone Festival is on the weekend of 26-27 May at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff. Entry is reduced for members of the society and is open to any trombone players across the country.

christian_lindberg_tbn_1-150x150A living legend of the trombone world, with 300 premières and 70 solo recordings under his belt, Christian Lindberg returns to the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester to work with trombone students on Friday 2 March at 7.30pm. On Saturday 25 February 2012, Leicester Grammar School will host a BTS event featuring:

  • Chris Jeans (GUS Band);
  • Matthew Gee (principal trombone, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra);
  • Brett Baker (principal trombone, Black Dyke Band; BTS President);
  • Stephen Lomas (bass trombone, Leyland Band);
  • Danny Brooks (principal trombone, Brighouse and Rastrick Band);
  • Marcus Reynolds
  • Black Dyke Trombone Quartet and Paul Woodward (co-principal trombone, Black Dyke Band).

The venue is Leicester Grammar School, London Road, Great Glen, Leicestershire LE8 9FL.

BTS President and principal trombone of the Black Dyke Band, Brett Baker will perform an intriguing programme of forgotten trombone solosprogramme of forgotten trombone solos, including works by Georg Christoph Wagenseil, Leopold Mozart and Carl Heinrich Meyer. The concert takes place at the University of Aberdeen on 22 March 2012 at 7.30pm.
