Rhiannon Symonds, tenor trombone, needs the public's vote after being selected from thousands of entries as one of the final five applicants in the Arts category of the Ambition AXA Awards.
Rhiannon impressed the judges with her impressive talent in playing the trombone. She passed her Grade 8 with distinction at the age of 11 and her ATCL performance diploma at the age of 13. Rhiannon is the current Principal Trombone of the National Youth Wind Orchestra of Wales and first trombone of the National Youth Brass Band of Wales and was a member of the National Children's Brass Band of Great Britain from 2006 to 2010.
The 14-year-old from Yorkley, Gloucestershire now goes on to join her four other nominees in a public vote at Ambition AXA Awards from Wednesday 2 to Sunday 6 November. The three nominees with the highest number of votes from each category will then go on to the Ambition AXA Awards finals which will be hosted by Carol Vorderman at the Royal Courts of Justice in London on 30 November.
Starting in September 2012, Ian Bousfield will be relaunching his trombone class that he taught so successfully at the Royal Academy of Music until he left the LSO for Vienna in 2000. Ian will be taking responsibility for the leadership of the class and guidance of the students. He will be at the Academy every three weeks for intensive coaching and lessons.
The BTS Trombone recording by members will shortly be available to buy. Now in its final editing, the CD costs just £7.00 to members, £12.00 to non-members and performers will get a free copy. To order your CD, please send a cheque for the correct amount to the BTS Secretary (address is on the 'About' page of this site). Please remember to include your full postal address.
