Mark Templeton settling into the LPO

Appointed as Principal Trombone at the London Philharmonic last year, Mark Templeton has recently given a substantial interview on his progression through the Midlands Youth Orchestra, college and ten years as a freelance musician. He also speaks candidly about combating performance nerves and gives his take on warming up, although it comes with a warning!

The interview can be read on the website for Prozone Music.

Kaveli Aho concerto discussed

Recently the Minnesota Orchestra accompanied their principal trombone, R. Douglas Wright, in performances of Kalevi Aho’s Symphony No. 9 for Trombone and Orchestra. He gave a 10 minute interview on Minnesota Public radio that can still be heard on-line, during which he talks about the piece and demonstrates excerpts on trombone and alto sackbut.

It’s one of the most challenging things I’ve undertaken, for sure!

Here is the launch page for the audio: Wright puts on a slide show.
