New Polish piece for Britten Sinfonia brass
Posted by David Read.
Next month the Britten Sinfonia is touring a programme predominantly for brass. The programme features original brass chamber music from the 16th and 17th centuries by Holborne and Locke, as well as a brand new Concertino by Polish composer Pawel Lukaszewski. The finale is Janacek’s Capriccio, written for piano (left hand only) and a wind/brass septet.
A capricious, quirky piece, blending folk-like tunes and Romantic melodies within a 20th-century harmonic framework.
Concerts take place in Krakow, Cambridge, London, Norwich and Birmingham, March 9-18th 2008.
