Applications are invited for:

The Bob Hughes Bass Trombone Competition 2020

The competition has two rounds; a preliminary round, whereby entrants must submit an MP3 audio file, and a final round which will take place in The Great Hall at Oundle School, New Street, Oundle, PE8 4GH on Sunday, 15 November 2020.

Finalists will be chosen from the preliminary round to take part in the live final.

The Prize

The Bob Hughes Bass Trombone Competition Trophy, which remains with the winner until the next competition, and a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 Studio 3rd Gen USB Audio Interface Recording Set.

An own choice piece.

(An accompanist will be available at the final. Finalists, however, may bring their own if they wish).

General Conditions

Candidates must not be older than 23 years on Sunday, 15 November 2020.

Unedited MP3 recordings of the set piece and own-choice piece, together with a completed registration form, should be sent to: by Monday 21 September 2020.

Finalists will be notified by Monday, 12 October 2020 to allow time for UK visas, if necessary, to be obtained.

Candidates must be available to perform at Oundle School on Sunday, 15 November 2020.

The Entrance Fee for BTS Members is £10.00 and £30.00 for non-members. This includes admission to all areas of the BTS Day. Members may pay via their GoCardless Direct Debit account. Travel expenses to and from Oundle School will not be paid.
The decision of the judges is final; there is no right of appeal.
Final round performances are open to the public.
MP3 files will remain the property of the BTS.
