Applications are invited for:
The 3rd BTS Ian Bousfield Tenor Trombone Competition
The competition has two rounds; a preliminary round whereby entrants must submit an MP3 audio file, and a final round which will take place at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama (RWCMD), Castle Grounds, Cathays Park, Cardiff CF10 3ER on Sunday, 18 October 2020.
Finalists will be chosen from the preliminary round to take part in the live final.
1st Prize: TBC, and the BTS Ian Bousfield Trophy, to be retained until the next competition.
2nd Prize: An Ian Bousfield mouthpiece and £100.
3rd Prize: An Ian Bousfield mouthpiece and £50.
1. Sigismond Stojowski: Fantaisie for Tenor Trombone.
2. An own choice piece not exceeding 12 minutes.
Final: An own choice of repertoire to last no longer than 15 minutes, but including one movement from Mike Svoboda’s Concert Etudes for Trombone Solo.
Candidates must be 30 or under on Sunday, 18 October 2020.
Unedited MP3 recordings of the set piece and own-choice piece (w/o piano), together with a completed registration form should be sent to: firstname.lastname@example.org by Monday, 3 August 2020.
Finalists will be notified by Monday, 7 September 2020 to allow time for UK visas, if necessary, to be obtained.
Candidates must be free to perform at the RWCMD on Sunday, 18 October 2020.
Entrance fee for BTS members is £15.00 and £40.00 for non-members; this includes free admission to all areas of the BTS day.

Travel expenses to and from the RWCMD will not be paid.
The decision of the judges is final; there is no right of appeal.
Final round performances are open to the public.
MP3s will remain the property of the BTS.
