BTS/RAF Trombone Day 2020

A day of workshops, recitals, masterclasses and, of course, the traditional massed blow for all participants.

Artists attending: Matt Gee, Gordon Campbell, Jon Stokes, Simon Minshall, Bones Apart and the RAF Trombones. Lunchtime concert to feature the Central Band of the Royal Air Force and guest soloists. The programme features a UK premiere and a world premiere!

All attendees must register in advance and provide full name and contact details, plus vehicle registration number, make, model and colour. For Group or Family reservations, you must make an individual booking for each member of your party and the questionnaire must be completed for each individual.

A photo ID is required for each attendee to gain access to the base (Photo Driving License or Passport).

Entry is via the North Gate.

There will be no registration on the day. Anyone who has not registered in advance will not be granted admittance.

* Please bring a packed lunch as no catering will be available. However, tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided free of charge for the day.

10.00–10:45:  Warm up:

     Beginner/Intermediate (Jon Stokes and Jonty Hill)

     Advanced (Jayne Murrill and Sarah Williams)

10.45–11.15: BREAK

 11.15–12.30:

      Class 1: RAF Trombones open rehearsal and guest participation (Scherzo Funebre by Derek Bourgeois). Conductor: Matt Gee 

      Class 2: Jayne Murrill and Sarah Williams

12.30–13.30: LUNCH BREAK (bring your own packed lunch).

13.30–14.30:  Lunchtime showcase concert:

Featured soloists (accompanied by the Central Band of the Royal Air Force): Simon Minshall, Matt Gee, Gordon Campbell, Jon Stokes, Gordon MacLachlan, James Richardson, Ashley Harper, Jonty Hill and Adam Smith

14.45–16.00:  Guest artist class:  Gordon Campbell

16.00–16.30: BREAK

1630-1730:  Guest artist class: Matt Gee, Jon Stokes and Simon Minshall (joint class) and massed blow.

 "Colours for Trombone"- by Bert Appermont- Soloists: Matt Gee, Ashley Harper, James Richardson and Gordon MacLachlan
 
  "Scarborough Fair"- Traditional arr. Geldard-Two Tenors Duet (3.30 mins) Duo soloists: Jon Stokes and Gordon Campbell
 
 "Aere Invicti"-by Dominic Sewell. Commission from RAF Music to celebrate the Central Band of the Royal Air Force’s 100th anniversary. 
Soloists: Jonty Hill and Adam Smith (WORLD Premiere)
