As part of Skelmanthorpe B Band's Fundraising efforts to attend the National Brass Band Championship Finals in September the band has organised a special concert featuring international jazz and solo trombonist, Dennis Rollins.

The concert on Friday 21 June at 7:30 PM will be the first concert to held in the new theatre at Shelley College, Skelmanthorpe (HD8 8NL). The theatre has a purpose built auditorium and promises to be a great new venue.

Dennis Rollins will play alongside the Skelmanthorpe B Band and also the band's guests, the Shelley College Big Band.

Dennis Rollins is kindly appearing through the generous support of Michael Rath Trombones.

In conjunction with Black Dyke Band, the BTS will be hosting a Trombone Focus Day on Sunday 19 May, 2013 at Leeds Town Hall, The Headrow, Leeds, LS1 3AD.

This summer, from 29 July to 3 August, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland is holding a week-long summer school, where participants will receive expert tuition and work with musicians including:

  • Professor Ian Bousfield
  • Professor John Wallace
  • John Logan
  • Nigel Boddice MBE

This course is aimed at enthusiastic brass players who are interested in developing high level performance skills in a conservatoire setting or for any student preparing to study music.

As well as individual one-to-one lessons and master classes, participants will have time for personal practice and ensemble rehearsals, culminating in a concert at the end of the summer school.
