2012 BTS National Trombone Festival
The 2012 British Trombone Society National Trombone Festival is on the weekend of 26-27 May at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff. Entry is reduced for members of the society and is open to any trombone players across the country.
The BTS will be at the Brass Arts Festival on Sunday 20 May at Leeds Town Hall (The Headrow, Leeds, LS1 3AD) and will feature the Black Dyke Trombone Quartet and Black Dyke Youth Quartet.
This year's Black Dyke Brass Festival held at Leeds Town Hall will create one of the greatest of sounds in recent times. The festival will feature a gala concert on Sunday 20 May at 3:00 pm with performances from Black Dyke and special guests, the Yorkshire Youth Brass Band.
The programme of music includes the evocative Deep Harmony hymn tune, Pomp and Circumstance in this Diamond Jubilee Year, and the grand finale of Respighi's Pines of Rome featuring over two hundred musicians.
The Black Dyke Band is the current English Champion and through the direction of Nicholas Childs and a unique partnership with Leeds Metropolitan University, the band continues to be at the forefront of the development of the brass band movement.
The concert features special guests and stars of tomorrow, the Yorkshire Youth Brass Band. The band was formed in 2006 under the guidance of Dr Nicholas Childs with the support of Leeds Metropolitan University to inspire young people aged 11-18 who have already achieved Grade 4.
Tickets for the concert are priced £10-£15 and are available from the Box Office on 0113 224 3801 or from the Leeds Concert Season website.
