BTS Trombone Quartet Competition 2022

Congratulations to 221 Bones, winners of the BTS Trombone Quartet Competition 2022, sponsored by World of Sound.

Based in London, 221 Bones is a newly formed trombone quartet aiming to introduce the versatility of the trombone to audiences through different styles of music. The members, Felix Rockhill, Meggie Murphy, Samuel Dawes and James Owen, are all currently studying at the Royal Academy of Music. Several members are proud alumni of Junior Guildhall and Wells Cathedral School. Individually, members have freelanced with the English National Opera, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Ulster Orchestra and competed in the BBC Young Musician Brass Final.

Of their win, 221 Bones said, ‘Taking part in the British Trombone Society’s Quartet competition was a great privilege. We are incredibly happy about our success and very excited about what future opportunities it may bring. Whilst we only formed a few months ago, we are looking forward to the future as we want to continue to perform in London and beyond and to as many people as we can.’
