2026 Midlands Trombone Day
A day of music making at The Band Factory, Leamington Spa on 31 May 2026, with Special Guests, The Cory Band Trombone Section and featuring the "Peak Trombone Collective" and quartet "Peak Trombone Quartet."
"It was a pleasure to welcome the BTS to Leamington for the first Midlands Trombone Day in some years, led by Brett Baker. An enthusiastic group from a diverse range of musical backgrounds enjoyed a relaxed and sociable day, with the opportunity to play and hear some fantastic music, from Fantasia on the ‘Dargason’ (Holst) to Thunderbirds (Barry Gray). We also enjoyed an unaccompanied recital from Brett, including an impressive demonstration of multiphonics in a rarely played work by Leo Zimmerman.
Huge thanks to our special guests the Cory Trombone Quartet (Brett Baker, Gareth Robinson, Kevin Lea and Andrew Williams), and – making their public performance debut – the Peak Trombone Quartet and Peak Trombone Collective, led by Chris Fower. Many of us went away inspired to create our own trombone ensembles, so watch this space for news of future events!"
