BTF26 Featured Artist - Christopher Augustine

We continue our weekly release of Featured Artists appearing at this year's British Trombone Festival.

This week, introducing Christopher Augustine.

Christopher Augustine is currently Tenor/Bass Trombone chair holder in Wicked the Musical at Victoria Apollo Theatre, London. He has held chair positions on three other musicals, performing on Disney’s Hercules the Musical, (tenor/bass trombones and cover conductor), Burlesque the Musical (tenor trombone) and Disney’s Frozen (tenor/bass trombones and as a cover conductor). From 2018 to 2021, he served as Sub-Principal Trombone with Welsh National Opera.

Christopher freelances with leading London orchestras, including the London Symphony, Royal Philharmonic, Philharmonia, and Chineke! Orchestras. He has also trialled for positions with the BBC Concert Orchestra (Principal), Royal Ballet Sinfonia (Sub-Principal), and BBC National Orchestra of Wales (Sub-Principal). In London’s West End, his credits include work on Wicked, Matilda, The Lion King, and Everybody’s Talking About Jamie. Additionally, he was a member of the prestigious Foyle Future Firsts programme with the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

Christopher holds a BMus from Goldsmiths College, an MMus from Trinity Laban Conservatoire, and completed a postgraduate year at the Royal Academy of Music. He currently tutors trombone at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and has been named an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music.
