The BTS is saddened to share news of the passing of Richard Edwards who died suddenly after a short illness.
From the Family:
I am so sorry to announce that our beloved Richard passed away last night, following 10 days of incredible medical care from Brighton RSC Hospital. His daughter Molly and wife Penny were with him all this time and at his side to the end.
Richard has been a shining star and bodhisattva in so many people’s lives and the messages of love we have received demonstrate how adored, admired, and respected he is. We are sorry to post this here, but felt it was the best way to reach the large number of people he loves, and those who love him.
We are heartbroken and missing him terribly but take solace that he will always be with us.
Richard was the most generous friend, husband, father, and would help anyone who needed it. As well as being a renowned and incredibly talented and inspiring musician, he was above all funny, charming, a true gentleman, and infinitely generous.
Penny, Molly, and his brother Rob agreed wholeheartedly that Richard would want to help others if he could, and after he passed away, he successfully donated his kidneys last night to two recipients on the waiting list for a fresh chance at life. We are comforted that some hope and joy can come from this horrible tragic loss of our wonderful Richard. Other people will benefit from Richard’s gift, and although he’d be devastated to leave us, he would feel proud to know that he can make a difference to many others. A final grand gesture from an absolute legend!
If you have memories, photos, stories, even restaurants or music he recommended to you, that you are happy to share with us, please email them to his wife Penny: [email protected].
We will compile these into a book to keep and reminisce about the wonderful lives he touched.
Rest assured, we will give him the send off he deserves, and it will be the bash to end all bashes. We love him dearly and will remember him in our hearts forever.
Love Penny and Molly xx
